Wishing them both the very best of luck, we finished the winter term at Olds College with two CGSA/TORO Future Superintendent nominees; Carmen Kozak (graduating turf diploma) and Franz Unterberger (graduating applied turf degree).  As exceptional ambassadors of our program and industry, we are very proud of both students.  We can also raise a toast to Ms. Stacy Reichert, who recently won CGSA’s Scholastic award of $2500 for her article reporting on the Alberta floods.

Langley Turf Management Students Donate $5,000

12.01.19-Kwatlen-Hort200If the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, someone from the turfgrass diploma program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is probably caring for it.

Fourteen students in KPU’s turf management program rubbed shoulders with leading experts in turf technology and industry professionals from across the country at the Canadian International Turfgrass Conference & Trade Show in Vancouver.

In addition to donating $5,000 to the Western Canada Turfgrass Association's Research Fund (WCTA), students organized the pre-conference golf tournament for delegates, served as event hosts, conducted registrations and assisted with meetings. The donation to the WCTA was raised through golf tournaments, raffles, poinsettia sales and social events.
