Look Who's Joined the WCTA - August 2020 Update

As a unified voice for the professional golf and sportsturf management industry in western Canada, the WCTA is currently 679 members strong!  

2020 is well underway and we've welcomed a whopping 80 new and returning members since the start of our fiscal year! (Sep 1)  Welcome and thank you for your support and confidence in our association.  We also appreciate the 1500+ non-WCTA members on our mailing list for your interest in WCTA activities.

Survey - Can There Be a 2021 WCTA Conference & Trade Show?

COVID-19 has forced cancellation of countless meetings and events since the state of emergency declaration in March.  BC has executed a phased plan that allows mass gatherings only if a coronavirus vaccine is widely available or so called ‘community immunity’ is achieved.  With that, our next Conference and Trade Show, scheduled to take place Feb 9-11, 2021 in Penticton, may not be allowed to proceed.

CEC Tracking Software Update

In 2014, the WCTA Board of Directors started discussing potential for an improved system of tracking member pesticide applicator recertification CEC’s (Continuing Education Credits).  A framework for such a system, intended to manage upward of 1000 individual point records along with a complete archive of accredited educational offerings, was put together and a software developer was hired, the same firm who built the Alberta government’s system used by Lakeland College for tracking pesticide points for Alberta applicators.

Covid-19's Impact on the First Green Program

COVID-19 hit the United States hard this Spring. Our lives were all impacted in unprecedented ways due to the virus and ensuing pandemic. First Green field trips were not immune.
