Message from the New WCTA President - Spring 2023

Hello and yes, it was certainly good to be back!

New WCTA President Stu Carmichael (left), presents outgoing President Gary Bartley with a token of the member's apprecation for his volunteer service over the past two very difficult years.

First off, I would like to thank all of our sponsors, volunteers, staff, Directors, Conference Organizing Committee members, speakers, trade show exhibitors and everyone who made the 59th Annual WCTA Conference and Trade Show a huge success at the River Rock Casino Resort.

Sitting here amongst a busy calendar of spring projects, ordering materials, hiring staff and all the other craziness that comes with this time of year, I have to admit that it’s difficult to focus on WCTA activities right now.

But looking forward as your new President, I want to ensure we keep our association strong and healthy and I will be looking to WCTA members for ideas, support and direction to create new partnerships, explore new ideas and to continue growing all aspects of the professional turf management industry.

I’m very excited about working with the new Board over the next couple of years and hope to see more fresh faces joining us to continue the great work and success of the WCTA.  As an industry association, my hope is that we continue growing new friendships and partners to work with and help WCTA members any way we can, particularly, in making local connections so that turf managers from all sectors can find one another, talk and lean on each other, and share turf management knowledge and experience.

I wish you all a great spring and summer!  I hope to see you soon virtually or in person at one of our W.O.W sessions, field days or educational talks and events.

Stu Carmichael
WCTA President
