Hello Jerry, Leslie and all members of the WCTA,

Thank you for reaching out to me requesting to renew my membership after such a quick departure from the industry back in June 2024.  As we grow older, the opportunities in life can present themselves in various ways and myself, I was faced with one of those life altering decisions.

Terra Equipment owned the property we operated from for over 30 years and as fate had it during the 2024 Conference in Victoria, which I was honored to be a guest speaker at, I received an offer to purchase my property that was too good to be true.  The only caveat to the offer was a quick possession date which meant Terra had to shut down and cease operations in the premises in 90 days.

This almost proved to be an unsurmountable task after being in business for 35 years but with the help of some very dedicated employees and friends, we were able to complete the task. Retirement was not something I was expecting nor were a lot of my truly dedicated and long term customers but at 66 years of age, I feel it was the right decision.

I was reflecting back and remembered the days in the early 1970's in my parent's basement where we printed the pages of the Turf Line News on a Gestetner and bound them for distribution to members.  From that point on, I became involved with the WCTA at one level or another and recall only missing 2 trade shows in 35 years as the owner of Terra Equipment.

I want to thank all of the dedicated and professional people who I had the privilege of working with over the past 50 years in the industry and certainly will renew my membership just to be part of such a great organization.

Best regards to all

Sincerely
Ron Aston
