Hard-to-Get CEC’s Available at the Show
Choose this pre-conference seminar if you need pesticide applicator CEC’s/CEU’s for BC or Alberta (points already approved – see end of article for details).
Focusing on the harder go get point categories and delivered by popular and long-time WCTA conference speaker Mario Lanthier, this four-hour session takes place 12:30pm to 4:30pm Tuesday, February 10th.
This session has 2 parts. Part 1 incorporates team work, moving from station to station, looking for answers to technical questions. Part 2 is a quiz with all participants together, answering from the answers they found earlier.
• Topics covered (each topic will be 20% of total time)
• Labels of herbicide products (looking for specific information within various labels)
• Toxicity (routes of pesticide exposure, methods at work to reduce pesticide exposure)
• Protective clothing (selection for various pesticide applications, current recommended fabrics)
• Pesticide use calculations (for herbicide spraying with back-packs)
• Equipment selection and maintenance (purpose and maintenance of boom sprayer parts, clean-up of sprayer after spraying)
Speaker bio
Mario Lanthier has been a popular speaker at WCTA, CGSA, ISA and many other conferences over the years, and taught the BC Pesticide Applicator Certificate course at the WCTA conference from 2003 through 2015. He has been working in the horticulture industry since 1980 and his company, CropHealth Advising and Research, offers consulting services and pest management recommendations with or without pesticides. Mario literally ‘wrote the book’ for Turf IPM in British Columbia.
