WCTA Silent Auction Raises >$8,000!

With nearly $25,000 worth of contributions, our 22nd Annual Silent Auction held during the 59th WCTA Annual Conference and Trade Show at the River Rock Casino Resort, made a very strong comeback in 2023 raising $8,049 for turf research projects!

“It’s the most money raised in a decade and we need to thank our donors’ generosity” reported WCTA Research Chair, Peter Sorokovsky, adding, “And of course congratulations and a note of thanks is in order to all the bid winners for their tremendous support of turf research!”

In its 22nd year, the WCTA Silent Auction has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars directed toward turf research projects supporting professional golf and sports field managers in western Canada and beyond.  Funding for this institutional research is distributed through carefully developed priorities, is specific to Canadian turf management needs across various sectors and is not the kind of research done by suppliers.

WCTA Executive Director, Jerry Rousseau stated, “Combined with 10% of WCTA member dues, 30% of any annual net profit and other fundraisers like the Pat Dooley Memorial Tournament and Kwantlen Turf Club raffle, the WCTA remains one of the top contributing associations to turf research in all of Canada.  He added, “If that sounds like bragging, it’s not, but the WCTA is very proud that our members have remained committed to furthering our industry and their own careers by driving these important and valuable initiatives, even over the last couple of years when things weren’t the best financially.”
