Speaker Schedule Set for NTA Conference

12.04.20 NTA LogoThe schedule of speakers and topics is all set for the 70th annual conference of the Northwest Turfgrass Association, set for Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon.

Dr. Cale Bigelow, a professor of horticulture for turf science and ecology at Purdue University, will lead the educational sessions, with one talk on “Cultivation and Top-Dressing Programs” and another on “Bentgrass Cultivars.”

Joining Dr. Bigelow will be Jeff Mingay, a golf course architect based in Toronto who has been involved in numerous high-level restoration projects of classic golf courses in the Northwest and Western Canada. His presentations will be “The Modern Bunker: Expectations vs. Reality” and “Building a Strong Architect-Superintendent Relationship.”

Also on tap for the two mornings of educational sessions will be presentations by Dr. Alec Kowalewski of Oregon State University, Larry Gilhuly of the USGA and Dr. William Johnston of Washington State University.

The annual conference this year will have a low registration price of $595, which includes lodging for two nights, two rounds of golf, the educational sessions and all meals from Sunday night to Tuesday morning.

The $595 rate is based on double occupancy, and the accommodations at Bandon Dunes are set up perfectly for double-occupancy for golf-buddy road trips.
