PTRC’s “Turf Under Research Field Day” or TURF DAY
The Prairie Turfgrass Research Centre of Olds College is happy to announce the unveiling of the new Turfgrass research plots on campus. The plots were constructed and established in 2012, and with the influx of funding by NSERC we are now up and running with a wide variety of research trials. The field day will showcase some of the current research projects on our first plot tour of the new PTRC, and will also include two continuing education seminars, at no cost to the participants.
The inaugural event will be held on Thursday, August 27th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the PTRC Turfgrass Research Plots, Olds College, Olds, Alberta.
Research Scientist Katie Dodson, her Research Associate Laura Chaves, and the rest of the PTRC research team are looking forward to meeting all interested members of the turfgrass community, so come for the day and enjoy a free lunch out on the plots. Please take a moment to pre-register for this event, giving us an idea of how many people will enjoy this unique free opportunity at Olds College.
Itinerary*
•9:15am- 9:45am: Registration in Land Sciences Building lobby
•9:45am-10:00am: Transportation to the field plots
•10:00am-12:00pm: Plots tour
•12:00-1:00pm Lunch at the plots (Socializing, networking, and closer look at trials of interest)
•1:00pm-2:00pm - Seminar: Application Technology 1 CEU (AB & BC), LSC 1027
•2:00pm-3:00pm - Seminar: Dihaploid Poas - 1 CEU in IPM (AB & BC), LSC 1027
*weather permitting, the seminar timings may change to accommodate the weather. The research tour will be moved inside if inclement weather continues for the entire day.
