He will review how Health Canada is expected to release this year their initial proposal for glyphosate. Mario will discuss why glyphosate is likely the most commonly used pesticide in horticulture. He will also review with the group recent decisions and label changes made by Health Canada on other herbicides, examine important studies on the impact of glyphosate on the environment, and remind the group of standards regarding glyphosate in the provincial legislation.
Part 2 – Impact of Pesticides on the Environment – The Modern Thinking - Mario will be working with the group in making a list of the pesticides most commonly used for lawn and turf-care and examine their impact on the environment. During his presentation Mario will be posing the following questions for discussion: What should we know about the protection of water? The protection of other plants?
